Stargazing

Explore space with retired a National Park Ranger and Astronomer as he guides you through the planets, moon, and stars. Enjoy an evening in the park viewing the galaxy by using star maps, a laser pointer, and telescopes!

Where: Lake Whitney State Park (433 FM 1244 Whitney, TX 76692)
When: Saturday, July 6 @8:00-10:00pm

Event Cost: Free
Park Entrance Fee: $5 per adult and free for children ages 12 and under (Purchase Day Pass at https://texasstateparks.reserveamerica.com/deDetails.do )

Itinerary:
7:45pm: Meet at the Lake Whitney State Park Group Recreation Hall. Follow the signs to the event location (map)
8:00pm:  Program begins.
10:00pm: Program ends.

Important Information: If the temperature is below 55, over 95, or raining, the event will be canceled. You will be informed in case of cancelation. Bring camp chairs if you like or you may use the metal picnic tables. Bring binoculars if you have them. Red beam light works best to not disturb the dark sky by phone or flashlight.

Free water bottles will be provided. Free ASL/English interpretation will be provided by Darby (not certified).
